Photo Gallery :: What type of turtle is this

Trying to figure out what type of turtles I have. They were given to my boys in Sept 08 so they are about 9 1/2 months old. I know they are some type of slider and one of my boys is doing a report on them and I felt like I should tell what they are.

Nope its not a slider, looks like an Eastern River Cooter

How can you tell the difference? I mean, I'd assume the same as turtledlucas. Even I have a baby turtle that seemed to have found its way to my baby RES, and it looks similar to the one in the pic, but it has a slightly red belly, but everything else looks the same (i.e. hands, face, and all the markings).

Waahh.. very nice and b e a utiful turtle. Looks similar like Yellow Bellied Slider but its not because there is no yellow 'S' mark on the turtle cheeks . Hehe.. just general opinion.

BUT, how can we know and differentiate between slider and cooter?

It looks like that turtle has some serious pyramiding. Maybe it doesnt, but to me, it looks like it.

I have no idea what turtle that is, but it sure has some VERY nice skin patterns on it!

I'm going to take a guess and say Peninsula cooter (or Florida cooter), Pseudemys peninsularis, or Pseudemys floridana.

I agree with Caphits, looks like he's got some pretty bad pyramiding. Pyramiding is a serious shell condition that can lead to health issues. Could you describe his diet?
