This guy has to be over 50 years old....What an amazing animal! I just used the net to keep him still for the pictures :)

This poor guy i suppose got hooked on some douche bags line and instead of freeing him, he decided that killing him was a better option. Some people shouldn't be allowed out of their homes!!!!!!!

Some people don't realize that if you hook a snapping turtle, you just have to cut the line. Don't even try to get the hook out, snapping turtles make RES look like angels. The hook eventually just comes out on it's own, from what I've heard.

I love snappers. This big old guy is gorgeous. I know they are so aggressive, but I love them anyways. You are so lucky to be able to find one so big and beautiful.

Well it will probably take some time for the hook to rot away, but the turtle would survive. If you notice in the picture there's a crack in the carapace as if someone stomped on him.....What a shame. He was only about 8" and the big one had to be close to 24" in length

Poor thing.

One my high school English teacher once said that people who abuse another living thing, should have whatever body part used to partake in the abuse sliced off in small bits very, very slowly for years and years.

I would love to be able to chop Marc's hands off for what he did to my turtles.

wow, great pictures, that's a big snapper! There were alligator snappers in a pond I used to sample in college. I learned very quickly how fast they can be and that if they're blocking the only road to get out, I just have to sit in my car and wait for them. I didn't like their introduction, but I can't imagine hurting one!

Alligator snappers are awesome!! Never seen one in the wild.
I saw one on the TV show "Dirty Jobs" that was enormous! They estimate his age to be around 150 years old because they found musket bullets from the civil war logged in it!
I'm really frying to buy a home, not really for myself, but just so i can build a fantastic pond in the backyard to house snapping and all my other turtles and i might build an indoor pond in the basement lol...
My fiancee learned to love turtles as well since my apartment seems like an aquarium expo and she's fine with the idea :)

150 years. I would've loved to have met that turtle.

You're very lucky.

My boyfriend will put up with the idea of me keeping reptiles, he knows I love snakes, but he's not thrilled with the idea. He even said so. From my point of view, I don't understand why some people are bothered or scared by snakes, because all of their reasons are never necessarily true. (Snakes do not eat humans, do not bite unless provoked, do not go into a human's personal space unless we make them).
