The kids have been pulling all kinds of critters out of a pond in our backyard. This little guy is the latest. We have seen red eared and snappers, but this one does not have a red ears? We are learning about all of the critters and the kids are loving it. I just don't know what this little one is. He is back safe and sound in our pond, but I know that there are more where he came from and we want to learn about them! We are in Connecticut if that helps. We have a huge almost lake sized pond. Thanks!

There are a few subspecies of painted turtles (eastern, western, midland). I'm not familiar enough with them to say which one you have, but it is a painted turtle.

I'd say he's an Eastern Painted turtle (especially since you're in CT). He's really young too! Just hatched this year! Very cute!

He was very very cute! There was a huge one...I'm not sure of what kind as we did not invade....digging a hole on our property. Eggs maybe? So hopefully we will see plenty of babies soon! I have pictures of a tiny baby snapper if anyone wants to see! I am thinking of getting a baby RES now as all of these hatchlings out there are giving me turtle itch! :) All of your pictures aren't helping me either!

The big one was probably digging a nest! Very cool!
I'd love to see the baby snapper pic!

If you're thinking of getting a RES (or any turtle, for that matter), have a browse around the main site (www.redearslider.com). It's chock full of info of RES :)

Aw!! What a baby :D

I love them when they are babies. I also can't wait for mine to grow up, but, all baby animals are cute.

Lol, when I clicked on the topic, I automatically looked down to see if Painteds4Life had posted anything yet.
