Sorry I'm late but I'm pretty sure one of my original turtles Killer(RIP) was a RES/Cumberland Hybrid.

Yea i see what you mean with her red patch. hers is actually really yellow and thin. Looking at the edge of her shell she had a different pattern.

Mine have been turning darker too.

I did see a photo of a rio grande slider recently, and noticed the shape and thickness of that one's stripes. I don't think Hurricane is part rio grande, she's looks way to much like a cumberland/RES combo to me, but, what other ways do you tell the difference between a RES and RGS?

I'm bumping this because I noticed something.

I don't think Typhoon is part cumberland anymore. And I think Hurricane is a regular RES. Definitely not from the same clutch, either half siblings or completely unrelated altogether.

Typhoon's feet are getting very wide. The webbing on her front feet is getting very prominent too. Her beak is starting to look like the beak on a Mississippi Map. Her spine is protruding the same way as a a Miss. Map, and the rear part of her shell is fanning the same way, too. She's also got the super swirly patterns on her legs that Miss. Maps have. I'll try hard to get some good, clear pictures when she is done shedding.

What is the typical demeanor of a Miss. Map? Because she is very, very, very non-aggressive, and very calm though also pretty sensitive to what is around her.
