Plus i'm planning on building a website and selling turtles and tortoises i breed online.I'd rather have all in order

I think having your own website would be really cool. I think it'd be a lot of fun for you.

I hate PETA, with a passion. Such extremists... I think it's bizarre that they believe all humans are beneath other animals. Like the religious dudes who hate the idea of evolution, and think humans are above other animals. Can we just be, I dunno, EQUAL? Oh, and my personal favorite: PETA euthanize all the animals they rescue. They don't even try to find them homes. How is euthanizing so many healthy homeless animals "ethical treatment"? Having my cat euthanized a couple of years ago broke my heart. These people do this all the time. If I were them, I wouldn't go to sleep at night.

I have the same dream as yours...but I'm left behind here ;). I wonder, do you need a big house to breed them all?

Depends on how many species you're planning on breeding.I've just started "hatching" turtles, and none actually "breed" in my tanks. They were already pregnant when i got them.

Once i buy a house, my basement will be dedicated to breeding turtles (and eventually) tortoises.NO SULCATA'S!! Just russians, hermanns, and greeks.

My next additions will def be "spotted turtles".I've already contacted a breeder that will give me a decent price for a sexed pair.

why not sulcata?? what's wrong with them??

I want a tort but it's still too expensive.

If I try to breed Kame...I'm not sure it will be a success, Kame is currently laying in the water not on the dirt :(

:(

Nothing wrong with them, it's what's wrong with me that's the problem.
Sulcatas are not hibernating tortoises and get VERY large (third largest in the world) so if you don't live somewhere warm year round, you would have to keep them indoors. It's much easier to keep a 10lb tortoise inside rather than a 150 lb one if you know what i mean.
Plus Sulcata are the cheapest tortoise you can buy (around $50+ shipping) and you can consider them as the "RES of the tortoise world" .Everyone buys them cause they're cheap and cute, then get rid of them when they reach the 12" mark.Rescues are flooded with them in the worst conditions.

Laws here change from state to state, so i still don't get the "United" part of the country's name.....But anyway.....That's a whole new thread :)
In NJ you need to get a "hobby" permit to keep any turtle besides eastern painted and snappers. It costs $10 a year and they come inspect your enclosures. If you want to breed turtles you need an "animal dealer" permit that costs $100 a year and you can ONLY sell turtles to other states and not in NJ.

I didn't even know you cold get a permit, I though we just weren't supposed to have turtles! I gotta be honest, I have a few critters that are supposed to have permits...I never send them in.
