OH YEA!! she loves those palm trees. She climbs and stands on them! lol

They just thought a turtle would be cute and a cool pet, they had NO CLUE how much work goes into it.

But hey, the way I look at it, turtles are like cats and dogs. My mom is running around here buying our mini doxie leather coats... I made my Lizzy this rockin basking dock!

Needless to say, the leather coat became a crew toy but Lizzy has started using her basking dock! haha

I added extra grip by re-zipping her ramp with two green jar grips.Hopefully she starts basking soon. I caught her standing on the ramp looking at the basking area... its a start in the right direction. Now she has been walking up and down the ramp lol

Just a quick update:

Since I have added the grips and putting her food in a little container with water, she has started grabing her food and taking it in the water off of the basking dock.

I figured since she loves to eat, she will connect the dock with food and pretty soon start feeling more confortable with using the dock for basking or is this the wrong thing to do?

I dunno what elese to do to make her basking dock more comfortable for her. I have recently put her old basking dock on top...nothing new has happend since I have done this.

She continues to walk up and down the ramp but she hasnt gone ONTO the dock, I getting worried that she is not getting exsposed to the UVB/VBA light that she needs.

Any suggestions would be apperiated..thank you in advance.

I was worried that Lizzy would have a hard time swimming in so much water so I plan on increasing the water level gradually

Considering that she's an aquatic turtle, she can handle deeper water with no problem.

Update, I re-arranged her basking area...put her old dock up there with some plants and moved her lamps a little...and it did the trick! She is basking alot more!! She even jumps up there when I am in the room!!

LOL I know I prob sound silly but I have read that it is possible for aquatic turtles to drown, being new to owning a RES I decieded to increase the water level gradually.

As far as I know, increasing the water level as your turtle grows does not harm them not having enough water does. So far with the water level where it is, Lizzy is comfortable, she swims often.

That dock took alot work...I am not ready to take it apart and re-assemble it, maybe I am being lazy but Lizzy seems to be settled in to her new home.
