you should fill the tank up a lot more, it looks like you only have about 50 gallons of the 125, since it's on the floor, i doubt it would hurt anything

I believe the reason why jenaero didn't add more water into the 125G is because the crate for the basking area can only go so high. From the looks of it, if another crate was added (identical one like in the picture), it would be simply too high (probably pass the tank's height it seems). If Jenaero listens, it seems that Jenaero can only add about another 3-4 inches, which means that's another hunt for a 3-4 inch high crate. Anything over that and there's a high chance the turtles will try to climb out since there isn't any cover for the top. The last thing that needs to be factor is the weight. With an estimate of 1,400lbs for a 125G full times about 75%-80% of only water (used 77% in my calculations), that's a little over half a ton with just water in it. Then you'll have to add in the turtles all the other accessories which could lead up to around 1,100lbs. That's pretty heavy for some floorings in people's houses and that's why a lot of ppl use their basement for big tanks like that. Of course, this last part is just all speculation .

The tank is in my basement so weight isn't an issue. The milk crate is just a temporary solution. I had to throw everything together kindof last minute. I bought 2 crates to make a huge basking spot in the 300gal stock tank I bought...would have been fine but when they delivered it, they got it in the door but couldn't get it down the stairs. Poor planning on my part. Estimating doesn't always work

In the spring or summer, the new turts will get a 125 gal also and I'm going to build an above tank basking area for both

Compared to the 50gal they were in just 3 weeks ago, I know they appreciate the 125 even if it's only half full for now
