@jaysea: its very funny i was actually surprised when i did it for the first time... i read somewhere that someone did it and the turtle loved it and i tried it and worked just fine ...lol...

Nice-looking RES. My RES does the same rhumba when I put my fingers on his carapace, especially if he's got any scutes to shed. :D

anyone tried to attach a log to their basking area... or like...how does res in aquarium scratch their backs? any suggestions besides the scratchy scratchy method, lol .....

i'm thinking of getting a 30gallon and redo the basking area etc... im going all out this time.... table saw here i come!

TartarugaVerde, I don't know if it's something they need, but part of the basking area will always be in the water if the need to scratch.

Haha, my turtles do the same thing when i scratch their shell.

@steve - thanks for your input and i will take in consideration for my next project.

@joel - i think Spiky knows that i can 'help' or is just getting used to it... Spiky was scratching the acrylic to get my attention and after i scratched its back for a minute... he went back in the water....

Lol i tried scratching Cody's shell today because he keeps scratching it on his dock. He didn't seem as excited as your turtle, he hid in his shell and then ran to the other corner of the tank :lol:
