Hello, since this is my first post i'd like to introduce myself :)
the name is Aira and I've been keeping turtle as a pet since I was 10. Back then I only keep Box turtles but recently I got interested to RES :D

To make a long story short, I saved 2 RES from some guy who sells them at the streets. He put like 30 to 40 RES in a 10 gallon tank, those poor turtle cramped like sardines in there. I Saved two of them and one of them has this unique shell I might add.
Take a look yourself

Just a quick question, is it normal for him to have a shell like that or it's something else?

The extra scutes is not an issue, it is unique. Some of the pics show a little white by the seam, but not in the last one. Where they taken at the same time?

oh woah his shell is so cool!!

when I got my baby res's from some vendor guy, they were really sick, so i put a tiny bit of iodine in the water and did frequent water changes. i used like three drops per gallon of water.

my newly aquired little guy seems to have come to me with previous shell issues as well, and im curious about the iodine. i bought some knowing it may help (recommended by a friend who is also a vet) but dont really know what to do with it. when you put the iodine into the tank, does it make the water look all gross? does it sting the turtles eyes? how offten do you treat the tank with it? just curious. also what kind of results did you get after using it? thanks!
