So my wife took some pics ok Toku's setup after finally putting the sand back in it, since she moved back to Las Vegas. The difference is so clear. I like sand so much better

Looks very nice with the sand. Just a thought, I would get a different thermometer. Those digital ones seem to have a large error rate. I like to have one old fashioned stick on-type for water temps and an infrared temp gun for the basking area.

Well, I guess double check them with a regular thermometer. I think someone posted a pic with several digital thermometers in a bucket and they all had different temp readings :)

looks great. your turtle is probably loving the sand too, mine spends hours just digging around in it.

Looks great! I have a bare bottom, I was wondering how much more of a pain is it to syphon and clean the tank with the sand??

It's not a pain at all. The sand is dense and the "gunk" if you will sits atop the sand. No need to siphon it. I find my turtle stirs the sand up just enough to float the gunk back into the water column where the filter takes care of it. Else you could just manually agitate the top layer of the sand bed just to get the stuff floating in the water for the filter.
