I'm posting this here because of the pics but I'll start off with the two that made me think of the title.

Needless to say Niko got a little cocky when I was getting ready to put him back in his tank after taking his weight and length which you can find here.

Now for some misc pics I took when I was weighing / measuring him. I asked this once before but looking at the claw pic Niko is def a boy right ?

Lol! I don't recommend that here in a few years.. several of us have gotten the blood bit out of us! My turtles hate being handled too.

It appears to be male to me..but I am not very good at telling apparently..since I called my female a "he" for 10 years. Opps

from the pic with the tail and the nails i'd say he was male. nice looking turtle

Figured he was a he, just nice to have second opinions, as for good idea bad idea on handling. Niko doesnt mind it to much I just had my finger infront of his face when I was headed back to the tank ;-/

He held on though for a good 10 secs...

Edit: Ty for the nice looking comments, the only thing some peopel might take issue with is his semi wide seam down the middle of the plastron but from what I can gather thats normal for some turtles and Niko is NOT over fed. His shell seams look good to, no stuck shell pieces or anything AFAIK. Hell, sometimes I forget to feed him but from what I read here forgetting a feeding isnt bad since wiht Nikos size and age I should be feeding him every other day vs every day like I am now.

He's looking good! Those bites are why my RES don't get eskimo kisses anymore.

Lol, soon as I read this I pictured you rubbin noses with your turtle then running around yelling why, oh why did I do that !

And thx, he is lookin good. I'm still havin a bit of a hard time believin my big man's been with me for almost 3yrs. If you check out his growth chart again you'll see how small he was when I got him compared to how big he is now !

ya just wait till he is 10 inches and he can take your finger nail right off lol. there jaws get SUPER strong and if you think that hurt then omg...iv been bitten by 12 inch females and they hold on and pinch down over and over...SUCKS!

Nice pattern:) Mine is about a year and ahalf behind yours I don't do the weight and length checks tho, I'm never home for that and my wife doesn't like to pick him up unless she has to clean the tank lol. From the looks of it, it might be a good idea she doesn't lol. I love the patterns and the colors!
