Hi all. Here is my turtle. Her name is Turtle Girl. Well, I think she's a she...She has a good appetite and is healthy as can be. She is a bit clingy and will even play "hide and seek" if you let her roam the living room.

She's about a year old and as you can see from the pictures, has gone through a few different houses! Her current pond liner setup is brand new and pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.

Eventually I'm going to tilt it a little so that the water can go deeper but not fill onto the basking area. I'll post further details on the setup on the habitat forum.

The top pics are very cute. Not sure how much of is posed, but they are excellent climbers and I think a screen cover is a necessity if you have high water levels.

How big was she when you first got her?

Oh, she's out of that tank now! Has been for quite a while.

She was maybe 3.5" when we got her. She was rehab turtle from the university of illinois wildlife center. She's almost 6" now...I guess I'll have to start calling her a 6 incher :)

Did you say she was a year old at the top post? And six inches now? That's a bit on the large size. Too fast of growth can cause health issues down the road since it stresses the internal organs. An inch a year is considered normal growth, with turtles growing a little more than this in the first year or so. What is her current diet like?

Hmmm...she might be more than a year old...but she has grown about 2 inches in the last year. She was overfed on pellets and mealworms for quite a while, but we're now introducing lettuce and carrots and restricting her other foods to encourage her. There is some pyramiding starting, and as I read more I'm learning how to give her a more balanced diet.
