Hey everyone, it's been awhile :D . I've been off doing my Music stuff and other time consuming things. Thought i'd pop by and give alittle montage' of Sora's life(with me atleast) 8).

She was about 5-5.5" when i got her, so she was already pretty big. She's purely domestic, so she's never been in the wild a day of her life(unless you count occaisional "adventures" in my backyard lol)

This is her, a week after i got her. Obviously I didn't have a clue what I was doing  . She didn't even have to try to get on the dock lol

A close up of her face. Back then, I was really fascinated with the markings on her body, so I took a close-up

I know, I know, the water is hideous. It's fair to say that, I had to do alot of cleaning :| . I eventually wisened up and got her, her filter and what not.

She was pretty shy back then, and very green  . I look at her today, and she's more browny/dark green.

I realize that the tank was already too small for her  , but like i said, I was grossly uneducated about turtles[despite having 4, when i was 9] and was in high school[graduated June of this year], so I didn't really have time or money to get her what she needed. I didn't take much more pictures, cause after this, I got really busy with school and stuff, but I started again alot this year. I have alot of videos on my phone and iPod, but I don't feel like going through the process of uploading those to Youtube, for all of like, 2mins. I might take some new video of her playing in the yard or swimming and upload it later.

This is one of the most recent pics I have of her. You can probably see that small white spot on her Carapace. It's practically gone now :P.

She was roaming the backyard, and giving me; "is it okay?" looks  . I thought she was laying eggs in the "compost-y" area, but she just got covered in leaves

Basically, a quick Synopsis, Sora had a minor form of shell infection/shell rot around the time I last frequented the forums [August/September time?] and is now almost all clear. We have no herpetologists where I live, and especially none that specialize in Turtles. So, I dry docked her for a few weeks, letting her live in my room[not free roaming ofcourse] and took her for long[like 2hrs 30mins]walks in the sun[plenty of shady trees though]. I put her in the tank for like two hours, so she could remove her waste/eat and drink, basically, 20hrs dry docked/2hr walk/2hr bathroom/eat time. She's gotten to the point now, I can leave her in the water longer and longer, and she pretty much stays in there all the time, except for her walks. Unconventional, but it seems to be working, It used to cover her whole Carapace, and now it's just on one scute.

Now recently,[September 10-15 i think] her heater went on the fritz. I have no clue why, it wasn't cracked or anything, just "poof" :| . Anyway, I thought, "Okay, i'll just turn the A/c on heat(it's in the same room as her, so i was hoping it would do), and would leave it pretty high, just so the temperature could settle in the whole room. Her lamp still works, so basking wasnt a problem, but the water would be ice cold. I know shocks like that aren't good, so that's why I tried to warm to room up, in an attempt to warm her water up. Anywho, it was working abit, but then I realized my parents would turn off the A/c while I was gone[really not knowing any better  ], thus in such, ruining my efforts to warm her water up. Anyway, about three days after that, I heard a very loud sneezing sound, which I immediately recognized as a possible sign for Respitory Infection, so I ran to her, only for her to quickly cover it up [cause we all know turtles like to hide illnesses]. Due to the above situation, I am very limited when it comes to health issues, so I looked online, and saw that Dry docking could also work with RI. I began dry docking her again[she was not impressed lol] while looking for a new Heater. This time, it only last about a week, because I think I caught it pretty early, as she was perfectly fine, other than the occaisional sneeze. Also, I realize, if it's occaisional, it might not be a problem, but I wasn't risking it 8) . I put her in her old 40g tall tank[technically it was my Terrarium for my Tree Frog, but I had given him to a friend, since he's got alot of them.] and left the A/c on in my room up to a comfortably warm heat(60-75F), just so she would be warm. I also had to put a dampish cloth in there for her to keep moist, and now she hasn't sneezed since :D [and i've literally stayed up all night once, just to make sure lol]. I'm considering moving her outdoor's, but I probably won't be here very long.

Now Sora's pretty much all good, except for that little white spot on her Carapace. She's now 8" and is getting another new tank  cause I'll probably be moving to the UK to finish school and I want her to come with me[if they allow it] :) . I know the UK is cold, but I could have her in a well heated tank/room. If all else fails, my uncle has a house, w/ a sizable yard, not far from mine that he owns, and he could build a small-ish pond for Sora, cause he already has a big enclosure for his rabbits[10  ]

Sorry for the long story, just alittle update on Sora, since it's been awhile.
Also, I found a DiamondBack Terrapin, but it's illegal to keep them here, so I gave it to our Zoo/Aquarium, so they can relocate it :D , I feel proud lol.

Thanks for the update, I enjoyed reading it! When you say the water would get cold, what were the temperatures?

:D.

The water was probably the room's temperature (60F-65F), cause it's central air. It wasn't overtly cold, but it was pretty chill, compared to her basking area, and lower than how I had it previously with the heater(70-75F). Also, I think what contributed was the weather, because it was pretty cold and rainy during that time. Now it's blazing hot 8) , like 80F-87F outside, which is pretty much the norm for us.
