Its the light...his shell gets very shiny when he basks. Overnight sleeping in the water makes it go away.

wow, they are really really tiny! At first I though, "oh my, those walls are mighty short" then I saw the babies!! wow! Anyway, just keep an eye on how much they grow, mine loooves to climb and will get out of anywhere if I give him a chance! Really cute, good job. Also, is that light on the left pointing at the water? I can't really tell but if one is a UVB and the other one heat, they should both be pointed at the basking area. =)
