Here are pics of my boys (?) or girls. Lucious and Narsissa.
Any comments on their shell condition is welcome. I've adjusted their feeding to romaine and red leaf lettuce daily, with pellets once every other day.

Hate to burst a nice big bubble, but the tank has not spots because I just set it up. Actually, my husband and I live in the country and we're on well water. Therefore we have pretty hard water.
We have been talking about getting a water softener for some time. I'm going to push for that now so I won't get the hard water stains. I'm hoping it won't be too much of a headache to get the hard water ring off that's started around the top.

For my salt water fish tank, I use RO/DI water. I was thinking of doing that with the turtle tank. Problem is I change a lot more of the turtle water every time I do a water change than when I change water in the fish tank. The RO/DI unit has a 4-gallon holding tank, so I'd have to use my 30-gallon bucket and make water over a couple days time each time I wanted to change water for the turtles. I can do that, wish I had thought of that before I set this up. My only concern, and maybe someone can enlighten me, is that the turtles probably need the minerals in the water??? If I use RO/DI water it will have nothing in it. No minerals at all. The RO unit takes all that out.

Here are a couple pics of the turtle dock I made yesterday. I used slate tile (for a more natural look) and I wanted to use all grey electrical conduit, but they don't make all the angles I needed for electrical pvc, so I had to add some white pve. I didn't want all white because it will be an eye-sore. I am going to have to drill holes in the pipe to allow water in to weigh it down, and I my have to put a large rock on the bottom of the frame if it tips when in the water because of the ramp part. I was thinking of maybe adding a couple of pole (pvc) supports under the front edges of the ramp, wish I had thougt of that earlier, but we'll see how it goes.

My origional plan was to just silicone the tiles in place inside the tank. I may eventually go that route, but that will mean emptying the tank for at least 24 hours. We'll see.

I would use RO/DI water with the well water.

You can also use krylon fusion on the PVC. When it's fully cured, it's aquarium safe.

The larger one is 5 inches, the other is about 4.25 inches.
