On the second picture, its on some sort of rug. Let me suggest you let him walk on some wood or some rubber mat since the fuzz of the rug can get tangled in their claws, and it's so small you cannot tell but they might have some fuzz inbetween their claws that may eventually cut off circulation.

I'd rather have my turts walk on carpet than a wood floor. Just make sure the area is clean and you should rinse them off well before you put them back into the tank.

I just have a quick question... my little turtle's shell looks exactly like this turtle. Is that just how they look when their shells are growing or is the top part supposed to have shed off already?
