Yeah for you! I still have a hard time catching mine basking...it's been a year since I got them. I'm thinking they are going to stay shy.

Do you have a heat lamp for your turtle to bask on? Because that rock still looks very wet.

My turtle is so comfortable with me know he will climb on his basking dock with me sitting there and If he is basking I can walk in and just sit down and he just looks at me

How adorable he/she is! When they're young they are almost perfectly round, which I think is just too cute.

He is cute, isn't he? I find it hard to understand people who look at reptiles and think they are ugly. I find them to be so beautiful.

They are beautiful, aren't they. Bright colors, strips, spots, scales, shells...

Well at that time he was basking in a bit of sunlight. Not really visible due to white balance. As for the rock being wet, the filter creates artificial current which hits the rocks. So only the top of the rock where he basks stays dry.

So far I've only seen my lil one basking from a distance- but the second i get close he goes like mad back into the water! I always feel kind of bad too because I feel like I interupted his relax time! Hopefully one day he'll get comfortable enough to let me do my thing in my room while basking and having his relax time! If I can ever get a pic i'll have to post him basking because he's almost always got one or both legs straight back- it's the cutest thing ever! You're lil one is a cutie!!

the sun, especially through windows does not provide heat or UVB a regular lamp will be good for heat you want the basking area 10 degrees warmer than the water

You got to see your little one doing the superman pose!! Yay!! It is cute when they do that, isn't it? My husband is upset that he hasn't been able to see our Tanner in the superman pose and I have. :)

He is in an open area with no windows. Just pure sunlight. He is in an indoor/outdoor setup. He has a roof over his headbut there is that time of the day when the sun hits his basking spot perfectly. I only use the lights when its pretty cloudy here.

I do not want to make his environment any hotter than it already is. As of right now, water temp is at 86F. Putting in ice just temporarily lowers the temperature to 80F and within an hour, brings it back up. I dont think that he would appreciate that much.

He basks in morning sunlight, which is better than the afternoon sun. Less heat but good amount of UV rays. The sun hits his area at 7AM untill around 12NN. Which I think is just perfect for him.
