I came home today with some rosie reds for the little one to eat- but I found him like this and had to wait until he woke up to put the little guys in there!! He tried very very hard to catch one.... but not yet! I think he's got to catch them off guard- they're faaaast! I can tell he likes to chase them though- gives him some good exercise! :D

ENJOY!! :P

That is so sweet, especially since he's so tiny.

I love seeing them do that pose! And yes, it is normal for them to get darker as they get older.

Does s/he look healthy to everyone that knows what a healthy RES looks like? I just want to make sure!

p.s. s/he's caught 2 rosie reds so far! :P I'm so proud!

S/he certainly looks healthy to me. Catching Rosies is a good indicator too! A sick turtle is probably not going to chase minnows, and so long as s/he is acting in a normal way for a turtle.

I hope so! I'm so new to this it's hard to tell whats normal and whats not! I think him/her catching the rosie reds was more off guard then anything- I feel like s/he's a bit slow in the water- like the way to describe it is his/her little legs are going a million miles a minute but the shell is holding him/her back! Is it because s/he needs to work up more strength as time goes on or could that possibly be a problem? It's cute how s/he does it, but cute or not I want to make sure everything is alright! I saw a video of an adult RES catching fish and that guy was faast!
