OK.

By the way, how do you know so many useful people? You know an adhesive guy and a tile guy! We had a pond built in our back yard a couple of months ago and before I put Spot out there in it I'd like to know if the water is poisonous - if there are bad things leaching into it. The guy that built it builds koi ponds for a living and they're supposed to be pretty sensitive, so I don't think he'd use any toxic materials, but I really would rather know for sure before I put Spot out there. I wish I knew a water toxin specialist! The people I know don't know anything like that.

I put a couple of dozen minnows in the pond as "canaries". A few died right off the bat - I think they were damaged goods - but a lot of them are still living. I'd like something more definitive, though.

You can probably take your water to get tested at one of those places that tests water for new homes.

Well, long ago, back in my other life, I was in the "trades". So I have a lot of friends who are carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc. Plus I still tinker with things around the house.

Loud noises coming from upstairs.
Family: "Goose, whats all that noise? What the heck are you doing up there?"

Long, silent pause.

Goose: "...Nothing...."

I don't have any experience with ponds, but if he used non-toxic materials to build it you should be OK....I think the biggest concern would be pesticides in the soil. You could try calling your county extension agent, and see if they could do soil and water testing for you.....

Goose and flutterby - County extension agent and residential builders - good ideas. I'll give them a try.

Say, Jessica, you said you have an Aunt that lives in Mesquite? Let me know if you're going to be in town and you can come by and see my setups.
