I will be moving this summer so I'm waiting until then to buy my 120gallon tank. And I'm also in the process of building my above water basking area as well as a stand for her tank. I used to have her tank up on the table until I noticed that the tank was slowly sinking the table around it.

but just thought you guys would all get a laugh at my ghetto set-up!
I'm breeding guppies in the smaller tanks!

can you see her basking?

yeah I do, it's laying on the floor out of the picture. It only blocks the real sun during the day, so I take it off in the morning on sunny days.

I wouldnt leave that tank by the window... the sun could heat up that tank really fast.

Cool breezes should also be avoided. Tank cleaning day must be real fun for you. :P

The tank water temperature does not increase more than two degrees during the day. If you notice it's not so much the water that is getting the sunlight, as just her basking area.

Besides. I'd rather her get REAL sunshine and fresh air when she can. That artificial stuff is just for when it's raining.... I'm a naturalist ;) One day I hope to maker her an outdoor pond. I will be getting her a kiddy pool this summer for the backyard.

And tank cleaning is SO easy. I just syphon out the water out the window and walk away until it's done. Then I sling the hose from the garden through the window. So easy. And I let her trample around the garden while her tank fills up.
