Everybody here with digital cameras MUST have tons and tons of unused fuzzy, and blurry pictures of their turtles. They swim so fast, back and forth, everywhere! It's like they WANT your pictures to be fuzzy...lol

Well after having spent many hours, following Serra around with my lens, I found out a few tips on photographing the little hyper guys.

1. Take pictures after a well-fed meal. The photos beneath are all pics I took of Serra after she had an enormous helping of green leaf lettuce.

2. Use a fast shutter speed. I use 1/125 of a second and but I STILL end up with lots of blurry pics! LOL

3.Take pics when they're basking. If your turtle lets you go near him/her while he/she's basking, Its when they don't usually move a lot.

4. Unless you have VERY bright lighting and a VERY fast shutter speed, taking pictures of your turtles when they're hungry and beggin' will probably look like this.

Here are some pics I just took of Serra. Ask you can probably see, they aren't the most clear pictures...lol

Your pictures are cute! Serra is adorable! And the face shots are great too! So clear! She is coool looking!

Just from my dealings with pix and my turt...it just gets easier when your turt gets older and not as "sugar-crazy" lol (hyper) I have like NO good baby pics and stopped trying. But now at 4 years old I can finally take some cool *non-moving* shots of her! :)

It's like shooting a race horse or a race car. Follow the subject with your camera, keeping it in the view as best you can. Once you get the turtle in the middle of the picture, snap it. If you can smoothly keep up with the turlte, you can get a good pic even with a low shutter speed of 1/125. The background will be blurry, but hey, it's a race turtle! :D

I love that 3rd pic with Serra's reflection at the surface of the water. She's got such beautiful colors! The face shots are really cute too. Nice pics! :)

Your pictures are great. I don't see how they could be any clearer. I like how you've got the black backgrounds too which highlight Serra's beautiful colors.

That one of the hungry Serra is hilarious!

My pics of Leo are so shoddy I'm embarrassed to post them haha. Your pictures are gorgeous,of course it helps that sierra isn't too shabby looking :-), I agree with spotsmama, I don't think the last few pics could be much more clear.
