It was $3,000. Which we thought was a good price at the time but we've discovered problems since then and it's costing more to fix them. Since that photo was taken we had the drainage and some problems with the rim fixed for another $400. They should have been done right the first time so we shouldn't have had to pay. The biggest problem is that there is a layer of concrete around the wall beneath the water level. It's about 2" thick. It shouldn't be there either. The problem is that it can crumble and then Spot could eat it and.....well, you know the rest. We've finally decided we're going to have to have the concrete smoothed and then sealed. I may try to do it myself and if I can't, then there's more money blown.
The lesson from this is to be sure and give your builder good, detailed specifications and don't pay him until everything is done according to specs. Don't assume he knows what he's doing just because he says he does. Common sense, huh?
