I don't know how old the tortoise was sorry. Yeah thats me by the emu. I look a bit goofy in that photo cos the emu was quite freaky. But thought you'd get a better idea of the size of it if I was in the pic (I'm 5'11")

I don't think so. I thought tarantula's were bird eating spiders.

Great pics!
I love the Australian Zoo!
I went there a few years ago, and saw the Galapagos (sp?) who was the oldest living turtle in the world! I forget her name, but she died a few years ago...
I love the tazzys! They were cleaning out the pen when I went, and all the tazzys were playing with the hose, and it was full of holes! They're such funny little guys!
The pics of the 3 sleeping alligators is cute! In the first pic, all their eyes are closed, and in the second one, the top two have their eyes open, as if they're saying "Excuse me, we're trying to sleep! Bugger off!"

Nice pics! :D That tortoise is amazing. So ancient looking! That's an awesome pic of the alligators too!

As for the bird eating spiders, I wouldn't be surprised if that funnel web spider does actually catch and eat birds, but I think the Goliath spider (a member of the tarantula family) is the one that is commonly known as the Bird Eater Spider.
