After many test runs with different setups/filters/bubbles/rocks/gravel.....

This is how they love it. We've never seen this much activity between the two turtles.

AWW, those are some cute turtles! Are they both RES, from the one pic it looks like the one is a Mississippi Map?

Also, please take the gravel out of the tupperware type container. Although it may look pretty, there have been far to many sad storys about turtles eating the gravel, and it becoming impacted.

Please read all the way though this thread for just one of the many cases...

Yeah, Ziggy was always shy of the camera, now every time I take it out he seems more and more curious. I had the camera on rapid mode, in 3 seconds i took 9 pics, all but that one came out blurry.

and BTW, the gravel is completly covered by big river rocks, its only there for the plants' roots so the turtles dont uproot them. The river rocks and the bubbles pushing them away makes it impossible for the turtles (at this size) to even come close to the gravel. Im not worried about it, and the turtles love their new aquatic forest.

Yes, it is not there favorite, and they where scared of it for three days!!! But, they used to bask on it, but now they don't have any room on top, because I filled the tank all the way up. They still sit in it, and swim though it, and to day they had a tug-of-war over a piece of red-leaf in it ? There are a few other people that tied it down as a basking spot, but I just let it float around. So yeah I guess it works.
