Here are some photos of my 2 large female RES turtles. They are 6 years old and are enjoying some time basking outside without being pestered by our 2 males, who aren't happy about it. They are in a 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank on our patio in partial sun and partial shade.
I bought a large imitation rock at Home Depot and my husband cut some out of the sides out so now they can also go under it to hide (which the girls do from the boys quite often!). Then we just put the one slab type piece of rock and a turtle spitter on top to hold it down in place. It works great. They all love it out there and hate it when we bring them in at night. It is deep enough to give them lots of room to swim even at their size. It is the easiest set up to care for and clean. The stock tank has a drain for cleaning and by using algaefix I no longer have a problem with algae. I will try to post some more pictures later so you can see the setup better.
