Thanks! Buster's sitting on our picnic table full of newly breaded fish. I think he was waiting for me to leave so he could strike, lol.

Are you using the window for UVB, and to heat the tank? Because it can't do ether one of those. The window is made to filter out as much UVB as possible(so you don't get sun burn while sitting on your couch watching TV). It also will over heat the tank during the day, and(depending on where you live) without a water heater it might get too cold at night. One more thing, don't EVER open that window with the tank there, the drafts can give the RES a RI.

Nice set up so far, you just need to move the tank away from the window(or cover the window REALLY well), get a UVB light, and(depending on where you live) a water heater. :)

Lovely setup! And Olive is a beauty. Looks like she knows it too! She's quite a basker.

I like all your setup and the only things I see that you still need are a water heater and a UVB bulb. A water heater isn't expensive but it's very important especially when cold weather comes and you need to maintain a constant water temperature. The UVB bulb is essential to provide the UVB that a turtle has to have in order to absorb the calcium that she needs for her shell and bones. An incandescent bulb like your basking bulb can't provide UVB - it will have to be a fluorescent type. When you get this bulb be sure the packaging says specifically that the bulb provides UVB (it will say 5.0 or 8% or something similar), otherwise it's not really a UVB bulb. Lots of people are fooled by packaging that says, for instance, "full spectrum" but the bulb really doesn't provide the UVB that a turtle needs.

Do you have a thermometer to measure temperature? This will enable you to keep track of water temps (which should be around 75 degrees) and the basking area temps (which should be around 88 or 90 degrees).

Nice job! Olive appreciates it I'm sure.

Lovely upgrade! I agree with what the others said about a UVB bulb. Just get another clamp lamp & buy a Reptisun 5.0 UVB bulb for it. If you buy online & have it sent to your house, you should be able to get it cheaper than at the store. Sometimes you can also print out the UVB advertised price from online & the store may price match for some of the bigger pet stores like petco or petsmart).

Thanks, I need to find another way to keep the lamps though. Hanging over the edge could be a real electical hazard. Any suggestions?

ZooMed has stands made to hang lamps over a tank and some people use something similar to this

Some people get screens for the tops of their aquariums with a very wide mesh (so as not to block too much light) and let the fixtures rest on top of them, shining down. The difficulty is that the bulbs are then very close to the basking areas. This would work only if you were careful not to get bulbs that are too hot/intense if they are going to be very close to the basking area, and don't fill the tank too full so that the turtle dock rises too close to the bulbs.

You could also consider getting one of those desk lamps with a long, bendable arm. I used that until I got clamp lamps. Make sure and measure before you buy, though.
