This is the first of the 2 common musk turtle eggs to hatch.He's about a half hour old and still has to absorb his yolk sac.

More pics today.........
Seems like the yolk was absorbed, but the liner is still there.He's doing great and the 4"x2" tupperware container he's in looks like a 75 gallon right now lol.Hopefully he should start eating soon.

Well stinkpots are one of the smallest breeds of turtles (4" fully grown) and this guy is REALLY tiny as you can see.He's about the size of my thumb nail lol.
Can't wait for the next one to hatch.

usually turtles finish their yolk sac and after a few days from their yolk sac they start eating. so for now they wont eat but later they will

Yup,yup.....He already absorbed the yolk.Now waiting for him to eat.

Have you watched any of bauribob's vids on youtube? He's wonderful. He's got a beautiful mud/musk turtle tank. He actually just had two three stripe mud turtles hatch about a month and a half ago. You should look him up.

And I think I read somewhere that when they have their
yolk sac you shouldn't put them in water. But maybe I'm wrong?

I know exactly who he is....He's a member on another site i'm a member on.It's a very nice tank with muds and musks.

I've hatched several turtles with success....you actually want to keep the yolk sack moist.In nature they hatch and go right for the water.

Yolk sac is gone......Now you can tell for sure he's a male.Notice the concave plastron.He was temperature hatched cause i have 2 adult females.Egg #2 still has not hatched.
