well...we've had these guys since august, but we've just got a new camera. so here we go....


Jezabell - she is the smallest of the three at about 2"


Ziggy - This guy loves chillin' and eating.


Lucifer and Tweak - Tweak loves to fly around the tank at mach 3, but the turtles show no interest. Especially Lucifer, they hang out a lot.

That's a beautiful looking tank, how large is it? IN the last picture, is that a red ear slider? I mean I see a little smudge on the side of his face that looks kind of like a red spot.

In the video, where'd you get that main centerpiece, I really like how it looks!

ill take a good pic of the centerpiece. Its actually a plastic Bonsai tree zip-tied to a cool looking rock. It turned out looking great, and the turtles LOVE it. Especially with the bubble strip.

The gravel looks too small. You should remove it ASAP, they could eat it and if they cannot pass it, they could die... it just happened to one of our members a little while ago .. Try some river rock that is bigger than their head, that they can definetely not swallow.

Oh yeah, I forgot that part. Some of it looks large enough ,but some of the other pieces seem very small.

If you want to make it look good you could try river rocks as Jessica said, an alternative that's easier to clean is ceramic tiles..

I'm surprised they can all live in the same tank like that, especially the catfish. They haven't tried to eat him or anything have they?

the fish is bigger than the biggest turtle, and the tank is a 55 gallon long that im adding a basking dock above the tank soon.

as for the rocks, i was actually told that an undergravel filter was the one of the first ways to go for caring for turtles. But I soon found out that its just not enough. So, we are planning on taking out the rock and the undergravel filter alltogether.

Ive ordered a new 3 stage filter that I have high hopes for. If it all works out, ill probably get another one, being that i have 3 turtles and a fish.

Good luck with an undergravel filter.....never could seem to get that to work out well with my turts in the past. Water always seemed to be a bit cloudy so I eventually scrapped the idea & just went with a standard filter. Easier to keep the water clean.

So the as long as the fish is bigger than the turtle, the turtle won't try to eat it...

Does the catfish pick up a lot of the food waste the the turtle leaves behind?

I want to get a bottom dweller for the tank that my turtle is in now... but I really think that she will try to take a bite out of the fish!

I have the same exact kind of catfish. And even though my turts show interest in other fish, they'll sit right beside him and never bother him. Maybe thier not desirable to turtles? I don't know.

yeah, hes pretty cool. He compliments the turtles very nice.

I have just bought plexiglass today, and im working tomorrow to build the new deck. I should have pics and maybe a tutorial even. We'll see how i feel after work tomorrow

Turtles will eat anything,even if it is bigger then them.Any live animal in the same enclosure that is NOT a turtle has a 85% chance of being eaten.I read a post on this forum about a turtle that killed a full grown koi,the turtles owner woke up and saw something floating in his pond and when he went to check it out..the poor fish was floating with some of his body missing.I tried to keep a pleco in with my guys but sadly the poor fish died five minutes after i put him in with the turtles

I agree x.
Saying that a fish that's bigger than the turtle is safe is wrong.
I'm sure the turtle knows it's a fish, and therefore wants a bite.
He may not swallow the thing whole, but he sure can mame it
til it's easy pickins!
I also don't know how much I agree with some of the diet
recommendations and tank size requirements on here. What
source is being used for that info?
