I think we got lucky with our DBT. I think the only "difficult" part of keeping a DBT is making sure the water is brackish, in other words it is sort of salty water. Other than that it is just like taking care of a RES.
Lilly and Aireign are both African Sidenecks...they're scientific classification is Pelusios Subniger. You might see other ASN's that look like Lilly and Aireign, but check the bottom to see if they have a hinged plastron. Accept no substitutes!
oh wow ... GORGEOUS terrapin... they are really beautiful. Aren't they endangered? It must have been hard to find one, and/or expensive! S/he is stunning though! Keep the pics coming!
Sawajo - I think in MD there are stricter laws concerning Diamondback's. Here in SC the law states that a pet owner cannot have more than 2 Diamondbacks in their posession at any given time. As for finding one that someone is "willing" to sell, you just gotta know the right questions to ask and how to haggle.
Kinetic - you gave me a chuckle, it's bRackish water, not bLackish water...all it is is regular water with less aquarium salt than a saltwater aquarium.
As opposed to freshwater where all you do is add water conditioner.
