Aww - Leo's a doll - always has been. You can see loads of personality in that sweet face.

Question: It sure looks to me like the shell is pyramiding, especially right along the spine. Is it kind of bumpy along the spine or is it smooth?

thank ya! :P she's my crazy girl!

her spine has always kind of been that way... I have pictures of when we first got her as a tiny green lil baby (i'll post one) and her spine protrudes quite a bit! I dunno if she was the piggy of the bunch at the place I got her from or what but i've always wondered if that was normal! Apparently not! :( Other then her spine though her shell is relatively smooth! What should I do to help that? i feed her a head size amount of pellets a day, romaine as much as possible, and shrimp as treats! Should I wait until she's a year to start feeding her every other day or should I start now since she's over 4 inches?

Thank you! :D I just learned today actually that my guesstimation of when her birthday would have been- it makes her sign a Leo! so we're leaving it at Leo! (but Leona as a joke because she's a girl!) lol

I would start now that she is over 4 inche's. Offer vegetable's everyday though, and instead of romaine, mix it up with green leaf/red leaf lettuce and stuff like aquatic plant's (anacharis is good) every now and then.

Variety is the key :)

Or you can gradually reduce the amount you feed her every day down to half, so that would be the same as cutting back to every other day except she still gets to eat her pellets every day. Also when you feed her treats like shrimp you can skip the pellets.

when you say the days I feed her shrimp I can skip the pellets- first of all I should still feed veggies daily right? and also about how much shrimp should I give her? I started cutting back her food this morning... I'd like to be able to feed her everyday! It'll be just too hard not to!

turbo- your icon makes me smile! :D

Josie- She's crazy happy! lol and we're leaving the name at Leo! :)

Yea, feed veggies everyday. Offer the shrimp as a treat like a couple of times a month and just feed the same amount of shrimp as you would the pellets (enough that would fit in her hollow head or maybe even half of that). You will be able to know best if you are overfeeding as you notice rapid growth (wide spacing between scutes) or excessive fat (bulging folds where her neck and legs normally retract into her shell). There's really no hard and fast rule, you just want to offer a nutritionally balanced diet and stay close to the guidelines and you'll be fine. If you feed a little extra or a little less every now and then it's no big deal. :)
