These are always together, so I haven't separated them. I do have another tank standing by though, just in case. Now, I was told that they were a Texas & a Concentric...hmmm....in any case...thanks...I love them. They have to be the coolest herps IMHO!
Thanks!

Let me rephrase by saying...I've had them a total of about 3 hours now, and they are always next to each other. I have them in the RES tank at the moment since they are all very close to the same size (it's a 60 gallon show tank).

I will be watching them closely, although I will have plenty of places for them to hide out, so I'm hoping it's not an issue until they're big enough to go into a waterland tub.
Thanks!

I'm sorry, what is IMHO? Or do you mean LMHO?
haha I got mixed up, northerns and texas looks simliar to me, sorry about that too. Well if your two's don't get agressive then you're in luck!
I had all three of mine together in a huge tank because they were together in the breeding shop, I didn't think much of it.
Next thing I know, while I'm fixing a few plants here and there, the northern is trying to eat my pinky and the other two are going at each other.
Now I have two in seperate rubbermaids and one in the tank.

I still wouldn't take the risk of having two of your res and two dbts, even if it seems they may be getting along. DBTs have a bad reputation of fighting with small turtles. I wouldn't want one or two of your turtle with a missing tail or scratchy wounds.

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

That's good to know about the tail missing or wounds...I'm going to keep a tight watch on them today. I'll have the other tank ready to go. Thanks for the tips! This forum is great for that alone...I was told by a few breeders that it would be fine to house them together as hatchlings, but as they grow, I should separate them.
Thanks!

Although quarantine is necessary for turts that brought from stores and stands, but breeders here quaratine turtles before sending them off to the owners.

Did yours way2fst4u?

Yes, I specifically asked if they were quarrantined. He said they would be fine to drop into the tank and that if I separated them, then moved them into the main tank it may just create more stress.
Thanks!

So putting new turts in with his RES that he's had isn't a problem?? hmmm thought you always had to quarantine new turtles for 90 days.

I don't even think these guys are 90 days old. I'm guessing a few weeks tops.

I quarantined my yearlings for six months before bringing them to my home. For the younger ones, they are still in their process.
It is concerning about putting all four together, and I wouldn't say the newlys have been quarantined for a long period of time, but until way2fst4u can get his set-ups set up, he'd have to keep a wide eye on them. I, personally, wouldn't keep them together. It leads to all different situations and problems.

There's actually 5 in that tank (3 RES & 2 DBT's) I'm working on the setups right now... ;) as I'm watching, the DBT's are basking, and the RES are on the other side of the tank hanging out. 1/2 hour ago it was the other way around. the DBTs definitely seem attached...they move together all the time.
Thanks!

The DBT's are eying the guppies & the ghost shrimp. They haven't eaten any that I have seen, but hopefully they will have enough stuff to keep them busy so they don't fight until all the setups are done.

I will feed them all tonight.
Thanks!
