beautiful DBTs, i'd love to see the set up you have for yours. we have a DBT at the nature center i work at. her name is Buddie, and the visitors to the nature center love her the best! whenever you walk over to the enclosure she comes right up to you, thinking she's going to be fed.
we feed buddie mudd minnows, shrimp and fiddler crabs. She does eat turtle pellets as treats though, so it is possible to get them eating fake food.

here is Buddie, my buddy :)

Now, Joz, the babies who hatch, when they are old enough to be adopted, will they eat pellets now that they have been raised in captivity first?

Beautiful turtles, they really are. Your camera phone takes some great pics, especially for a camera phone. (Just look at my avatar, my camera phone stinks).

I'm kind of interested in at least one of the hatchlings. I'd need some good care info, and such.

I need to make sure if I can afford a third turtle, because there is no way I would let the new one live with Hurricane and Typhoon, even after the quarantine. If I can definitely afford it, and pass the test with my mother, then yeah, I'll take a hatchling, absolutely.

Anyone know if it is legal to keep diamondback terrapins in Connecticut?

All turtles but the "Bog" turtle are legal to keep. Some states require a permit, others don't.Not sure in Connecticut, but in Jersey i had to get a permit that covers all my turtles.Eastern Painteds and Snappers do not require a permit.

You need a permit to keep a pet?? wow

Indonesia doesn't realy care about people's pets so no permit needed

I know novroz, but here in the US the goverment wants to take your hard earned money every chance they can!
Laws here change from state to state, so i still don't get the "United" part of the country's name.....But anyway.....That's a whole new thread :)
In NJ you need to get a "hobby" permit to keep any turtle besides eastern painted and snappers. It costs $10 a year and they come inspect your enclosures. If you want to breed turtles you need an "animal dealer" permit that costs $100 a year and you can ONLY sell turtles to other states and not in NJ.

You got a good point about the "United".

I am now glad I don't live in smoggy, polluted New Jersey with permit laws up the wazoo. Sorry if you love Jersey Joe, but, that's just how I feel.

I know wood turtles in Connecticut can't be taken from the wild... But I don't if captive bred ones are okay. Not that I am interested in a wood turtle, but I like to know the rules.

I wouldnt worry about a permit even if your state requires them. Theres not a turtle task force team that randomly checks for illegal turtles in random houses lol.

Your only allowed 2 eastern painteds in pa and need a permit..... ;) ahahah Shhhh

Ow I see...Hmm I wonder what my people think if we have to pay Rp.100.000 a year for our pet ;p

I have a deviantart friend that owned almost 60 herptiles....does she has to pay for all of them (I wish I ask her directly but she's been missing for quite a while)

I don't love Jersey, but i wouldn't live up in the sticks either.I'm too used to urbanized life.

I agree, but if you have an outdoor pond, a PITA neighbor and anyone that knows you have them, can call DNR and have your turtles taken away for not spending $10 a year.
Plus i'm planning on building a website and selling turtles and tortoises i breed online.I'd rather have all in order
