Interesting never seen that before but i for one think 90% of clowns are just from people over heating the eggs. Dalmation/spotted probably same thing. Just where everything on the shell is body is just large black spots no real lines. Hmm after googling randomly i have to buy a book now. Apparently it shows dbts with "Flower back" " Diadem" "Leopard" and "Panda" terrapins. Also I now know i meant leopard. I new dalmation sounded wrong.

Is that why some morph fatality rates are so high, because most of it is caused by over heating eggs?

Just the clown morph. Thats why ones that live they almost always turn out to be female and then ussually are sterile and cant breed.

that's really interesting. I didn't know their colors could be changed from over heating eggs. I hope people don't do that on purpose though. That just seems not good.

i agree they over heat em and they come out either dead or pastel or clown pastels its a terrible practice but they come out really neat looking, ive also heard pastels r sterile . wow those are neat looking i looked at a pic of a leopard dbt ,looks like a speckled except bolder spots . that book sounds like it would be a good read ill have to get my hands on one as well ,it would be fun to learn more about these little guys . those flower backs r incredible looking i saw one of an ornate ,never seen one of those before or even heard of em , so interesting how many types and varieties there are of dbts

The book is called: Diamondback Terrapins: Gems of the Turtle World. Mine arrives today, just waiting for the mail to go. ill update ya today if its worth buying after reading it.

Im on a waiting list for an ornate hatchling and alot of her clutches get a flowerback pattern. Kinda upset that she lost her waiting list when comp fried and just then sold them too whoever. So now i have to wait another whole year....

That dbt is probably worth $1000+if i had to guess

UPDATE: The book is worth it in my opinion. Albino dbt is shown and couple other neat looking morphs. Alot of info too. The most i read anywhere strictly on dbts. Also Dave Strasser, has a dbt photo in the book haha. Small world
