this is just speculation, but the impression i get is that the markings are kind of a ''fingerprint" for the turtles. the third red mark on the top of the head could just be another variation.

if john and aeryn ever get to a point where they're at the same size and looking a lot alike, i'll still be able to tell a difference. john's ears are red red and solid, while aeryn's are more of an orange red and fade out towards the back edges. john's also got a very subtle third red mark on the top of his head. barely noticeable now, but maybe will be moreso when he gets older? aeryn's just got a swirly yellow sphere.

Shreyas, this is the turtle you're worried about the water temp for? Whatever the temp you had her at doesn't seem to have done her any harm. :)

You said in another post your turtle is about a year. How big is your turtle (the length of the shell in inches or centimeters without the curve). She looks rather big for being a year old...

Wow are you sure she's only a year old? My turts are about a year old and they seem much smaller than her. What's her shell length?
