I was disgusted how the animals were treated at the show though. Turtles, snakes & lizards in little tiny tubs all packed in...

And the "death bowl" guy...he REALLY pissed me off. I had a few words with him. "$20 for an island tank and I'll throw in a free turtle...I bet your little girl would love it" I promptly told him: "my daughter is 3 years old and she knows better than to keep turtles in that little thing with hardly any water! " He asked me to leave...
Thanks!

I was flipping through the pics and once I saw the turtle lagoons, I shook my head
As a reptile show, wouldn't they know any better?
And it's also sad that there are mississippi map turtles in those lagoons with the res. Such a shame...

Good for you! :D I'm glad you had the nerve to tell him. I thought that same thing just now when I looked through your pics....

By the way, it's not fair... I want a sulcata :( I know I'll never be able to talk my husband into that though. I'm sure he'd believe me if I tried to convince him "it's just like having a dog" Yeah right!!

I have a sulcata, but won't for long...
Tell him when the gas prices grows too high, ride your sulcata to work :)

You know... if the size of the sulcata is the reason you hesitate to buy a sulcata, Hermanns, greeks, leopards, russians, and redfoots are as treasurable :) And a bonus, they stay in a small range in size (at most 15 inches where the sulcata will outgrow your wheelbarrow)

I was so tempted with all the Leopard & Sulcata hachlings @ the show...but I controlled myself...I really want to start breeding the DBT's so I went there to talk to Pete @ Waterland Tubs and to see if I could buy a DBT...and I ended up with a tub and 2 hatchlings :)
Thanks!

I just can't help it... but the Hermanns (I think hermanns? pic 22) in the corner looks like they're mating lol
And best of luck when your DBTs grow enough to be bred :)

My kids are all for it because I showed them your pics from a few posts ago of Mups. They think he's so cute. My 8yr old son keeps talking about how cute Mups is and how he'd love to have a turtle like him. I see what you mean about the leopards; they are real similar. Who knows? Maybe the idea will grow on my husband. :)

Thank you :)
Leopards are very similar indeed, just a darker coloring around the scutes. But they all have their characteristics and personalities that are unique no matter what species. And once your husband sees a little baby tort, who knows? Maybe he'll get soft around the edges

 well guys.. i have to agree, that i do not like the way these reptiles were treated i absolutely hate snakes.. but not enough to do something like that to them.. clear cases no heat lamps no food, bedding etc.. and to put a grown turtle into a tub like that and slap a price on to it for the highest bidder.. no way... by the way take a look at this picture http://www.noccruisers.com/modules/gall ... m47/rs_030
on the right youll see a tortise in a milk crate.. thats very disturbing to see.. if i had a tortise.. id give it its own bedroom or something, granted he didnt want it to get away but come on a milk crate.. this guy didnt see his reptiles as living creatures he saw them as money.

also what is a diamondback? ive never seen them the one in the pic looked silver, i see res and yellow belly cooters up here alot.. btw how hard are the ybc to raise
