Ok so today i knew it was time to clean out the tank..Also since I have been a member I have learned a few things and one is that the gravel needed to go!! Also that i needed to get uvb lighting. So once again i spent another 100 on my little spoiled myrtle! I also bought new river rocks that he in no way can eat! Here are a few pics!!

ooooh it looks much better now!! I love the plant thing! if the water was even higger he could sleep and play in the plants!

Just a question, though. Why do you have a pile of rocks in the corner?

welllll hes always trying to latch onto everything even the thermometer!! Sooo i figured id stack some rocks and he can climb onto those to..Also im gonna raise the water little by little. I dont want myrtle going into shock lol also i was wondering, underneath the tank it says do not fill tank more than half way because of corrosion?? are they talking about the plastic?

Is that a reptile tank or a normal fishtank? Normal fish tanks can be filled to the top....

its a reptile tank, it came with a screen top...

If it's a terrarium then it probably isn't meant for water. If it's not, then you should keep raising the water level. The higher it is, the more likely he is to play in the stuff you got him.

Since he obviously digs in the rocks, then having that pile in the corner probably isn't safe, because if he knocks it down on top of him, then he could hurt himself or drown. And I can't see if there's one in there but you'll need to get a water heater in order to maintain the temps throughout the year.

well then the people at petsmart are retarded!!! what could eventually happen if there to much water in a terrarium??Could it burst??:shock: Your right bout the rock pile il break it down now lol

Well generally, to my knowledge, terrariums aren't reinforced to hold the weight of the water. Because if you think about it one gallon of water weighs eight pounds and that tanks looks like a 20L, so if you were to fill it to the proper height it would weigh about 120 pounds. And that's pushing out on all sides. Now, if you got it out of the aquarium section of the store and not out of the reptile section, then it should be an aquarium, they make those tanks for breeding purposes and for aquatic animals that need more floor space. And if that is the case, you are just fine!! If not, you could see about taking it back and exchanging it for the right one, and maybe if you make a huff about it they'll discount the new one to the old price, if there's a price difference that is.

It should be able to hold the water okay but like Untsmurf mentioned, it's not designed to support that kind of pressure for the length of their warranty period. But in all likelihood it will be fine. Filling it all the way will probably stress the silicone seams a little bit over time but you will have to upgrade to a bigger tank within a year anyway.

David, could she just buy a tube of aquarium glue and reseal the corners? That way she doesn't have to take it back.

Yea, but I think she'll be fine the way it is especially if she only fills it 2/3rds full.
