I had to borrow a not-so-great camera to get pics today. Don't know what the problem is. Here's the new boxie pool. Also a pic of the other tanks in the room. Don't know why it's so fuzzy...I was holding it still, I swear!

Both turtles were hiding in their logs under the lamp. I'll take more of them when they come out and when my friend returns my good camera.

*edit* these new, clear pics

Won't be getting any close ups with this crappy camera. Gotta wait til I get my good one back. There's some in my photobucket album tho if you wanna browse.

There are links to care sheets in the Box Turtle/Tortoise section

Jenaero, are your turtles male or female? I take it they get along well?

turboturtle8, speaking as a new box turtle owner, I can tell you that in terms of setup I've found that box turtles are easier, as you don't have to deal with filtration, water quality etc, and cleaning is easier. No algae! Just scoop out whatever food other otherwise they leave behind. But in terms of what you have to do every day, it's more than my aquatic turtles. You have to be vigilant about keeping the substrate moist, which in my area means misting several times a day, and the water pan has to be cleaned every day, because they drag dirt into it and go to the bathroom in there. And mine is not nearly as interactive as my aquatic turtles, he mainly wants to bury himself and be left alone.

Wow I love that big tank! How many gallons is it and where did you get it! If you don't mind my asking.

And what lives in those other two tanks?

I don't know the sexes yet. Not big enough to tell. I'm thinking Dog's a girl but I dunno.

That water tank is 125gal long, and my res live in that. The 2 small tanks house my boa and my ball python.

I got the 125gal from petland for about $325

He's a BCI (common boa)

How much research have you done about the redtails? I ask because a lot of people get hosed and pay a lot for a 'true redtail' when in fact that's not what they're getting.

Yea, it's hard to determine what a "true" redtail is anymore since there's been so much interbreeding between the different types. Even in the wild you can find interbred specimens.

Sorry it's been so long but... I've researched for about six months I'd say. I've researched breeders and snakes in general for quite a bit longer. I'm a member of an RTB forum and I've talked to some people about finding reputable breeders. It's been a pain, but I love them so it's okay. I'm probably going to get one from the herp show coming up.
