That's a very nice healthy looking male! Do you plan on raising the water level for him? They require deep enough water to swim freely in. Congrats!

wow! he looks fierce and cool..but yeah david y is right, his water level is pretty low.

Thanx David & Zero! You should have seen him when we got him, he was green with algae, his shell was compromised in two spots and he had a low grade infection and skin problems. It took awhile but with shots, iodine soaks, the right lights and heat and he is so much better. I thought my heart would break when we first got him.
I have told my husband he needs more water. LOL. I do plan on putting more in but I think he is a bit freaked out by all the room he has now. I am also afraid (probably unneccessarily) that he won't be able to get his head out of the water for air, but I noticed today that he seems to float up without having to stand on anything. Should it be about half way full. It's a 50 gallon breeder tank and I have about 25 gallons maybe a little less now.
Have you figured that I still know very little about these guys?

My tank is always about 3/4 full. Mikey is in a 55 gallon. Just make sure they can't get out.
