What a beautiful turtle! His colors are beautiful and his shell looks very healthy.

Just curious? How many inches long is your turtle?

Really? He (or she) does look healthy? I am so glad! He's about 5-6 inches long already. How fast do they grow? I know he'll need a new tank soon, but they said what we have is ok for now. I think I need to rearrange the rocks we have in there for his basking area though, he can swim pretty freely now, but I could make his swim area even bigger.

Ha ha! He may very well be a she, my 3 year old daughter named him though. He is "technically" her birthday present, she said she wanted to name him Tiny Tim. I was like, huh?? She started singing a song- "I had a little turtle, his name was Tiny Tim, I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim." So, she will be referred to as he.

Yeah your RES looks very nice! :) And for a RES, the bigger the tank the better. It makes a big difference in their happiness/well-being. :)

I was very concerned about health. The only place I know of to get them here is Petco. I'm in Phoenix and it is so hot, I was worried if I got one from some no-name place, they may have hurt them in transit. Don't trust the big chains either, but I figured it was the lesser of two evils??

NIce pics, I like the colors on your turtle, they look bright and vivid, it may be because the flash from the camara? or is it natural ? looks great

I don't think Donatello hasn't those bright colors and is about the same size as tiny TIm, what do you feed him/her with ?
Tim looks like TINA to mee also, the claws look like female's , Donatello has very long nails and has the same age as yours (i'm guessing on ages)

well, thanks for posting PIcs, they are very nice , and beautiful RES you have :)
GlaD TO Be A MeMBeR, :) I have a 2 yo male turtle and a baby turtle 2-3 months old, I'm interested in knowing more about them,
hugs, Albert, Donatello and Baby turtle and bunch of tropical fishes( 3 acuariums) :)

Thanks, I didn't know when I got him (her) that the colors were so nice, but everyone is commenting on that. I hope that means good health. My camera takes very sharp pictures, colors are pretty accurate.

As for feeding, I have only had him 2 days now. So far, just turtle pellets which he/she scarfs as soon as I drop them in and some grated carrot that was completely ignored. They had a million feeder goldfish in the tank when I bought him. I've read that I shouldn't give him goldfish though?

Lol, we won't. We really can't tell for sure, until we see a pic of the tail.

Ok, ok!! Sheesh!! Tiny Tim is neither tiny nor a male. You guys are such sticklers!! hee hee. I would have MUCH rather preferred a smaller turtle. Maybe would have gotten 2 then. Here in Phx. the selection I found was rather limited, also looked in another town- they were all about the same size...Plus with that 4 inch rule... He/she was the smallest turtle they had. I guess I could have gone with a "black market" turtle, but didn't feel right about that.

I will get a picture of the tail up there soon. Now I am very curious about Tiny Tim/Two Ton Tina...
