I saw this at a flea market and couldn't resist it for the side of the pond.



You guys must think I have nothing to do all day. The fact is the last of my 5 sons is in college, and I have that "empty nest thingy".

You have lovely ponds, Terryo - I always enjoy looking at your photos of them! There's nothing wrong with keeping busy. I'm sure after having 5 sons leave the house, it's really quiet now. I bet your turtle kids enjoy your efforts That statue is one of the sweetest things I've seen.

We put in two ponds at our house this year, since that's what my mom wanted for Mother's Day. She has always enjoyed working on our house, and though she doesn't have an "empty nest" just yet, I do tend to wonder what our backyard will look like once I move out...

those are nice pics, you may have some pics of your pond where we can see the whole pond, I Know you may posted them before but i didn't find them , would you mind to post a pic of the whole pond? I'm sure looks great

The top picture of the big pond is after I cleaned it out for this Spring. The big Orange lilly is from last fall. I didn't take it in for the winter, and it died.
I am sorry if some of these pictures are so big, but I don't know how to make them smaller.

Smoofish....I know what you mean. In my house someone was always bringing home something. (5 boys), You can imagine. But I was right along with them bringing home every kind of animal. My poor husband just went along with us. My son built my first pond for me as I was going through a very nervous time in my life, and he said that I needed something to relax me. Now he is puting an indoor pond in my rec. room so we can bring in the turtles for the winter. Do you have any pictures of your Mom's pond?

Oh my, how I can relate to that "empty nest" syndrome. I have a son in Junior year at UNF, and my daughter just started college. I miss the days of attending their basketball and baseball games.......how did I ever get them to all those practices and games and kids houses, etc?? Thank goodness for my turtle and doggie

I knew that you would know exactly what that newt was, Kevin. I thought it was a newt. I wonder where it came from. There is a really big pond a few blocks from my house. Probably from there.

Probably! When these guys are young they're a really rich red with some black markings on the side. They're sometimes called red efts.

Lol Terryo - you just described my sister. The collection of animals we have is greatly due to her efforts. When she got married and moved away some of them went with her...but she and her hubby are using our home as a refuge for their critters while they're in the middle of a move, so our numbers have about tripled.

I know what you mean about ponds being relaxing..after a long day it's just nice to sit out by it and watch the turtle and fish swim around, and listen to the water flowing. It's awesome how they attract the local wildlife. We have some frogs now too, toads, lizards, butterfly's etc. who have all ben happy to make the ponds home.
I do have pictures - a bunch, really - and I'm working on uploading them to Flickr. I'll post them when I have everything up.

Whoa Smoofish... 62 animals, in addition to 7 cats, 4 dogs, 2 horses, 3 RES, and 7 fish?!?! Do tell...I hope there's an ant farm included with about 59 ants, or else that's a ton of animals to take care of!!
