My RES were raised in a fish tank and they get along with fish very well. The big gold fish you see is a feeder fish and not only it never got eaten, it's now 4 times its original size.

Do you know about the risk of the gravel in the tank? that it may be eated bu he turtles ?

I didn't know about that but my turtles show no interest to the gravel. Gravel was there from the beginning since they were baies so I guess they never developed interest in eating rocks

yea, but one day will and that will result in heavy vet bills and/or death of the turtle(s)

There is no garranty that your turtle will not eat it
you dont know what hes is thinking, or when hes really hungry and wants a colorful treat
or hes bored and wants to try it out

Its dangerous and can be deadly
Do you really want to take the chance with all 3 turtles like kevin said, will pile up a major vet bill

I don't mean this to sound mean or offensive, but you should know that just because you don't see them eating it doesn't mean they don't have an interest in it. I never saw Mikey touch the gravel until one day (after using gravel with him for a year) I was cleaning out his tank and I got him out of the sink to put him back in the tank and there was gravel in the sink. The stress caused him to defecate and there was gravel in his defecation. It's not possible to watch them 24/7 so you should really consider taking it out. Plus, taking it out will provide more room to swim and it will make cleaning much easier.

If you want to put something on the bottom of the tank put white river rocks. I used white ones because my pond is black, and I wanted to see what was going on in there. They sell other colors, but the white ones are really nice. Otherwise your tank is really nice, and the turts look happy.

river rocks sound like a good idea, I saw them at local Petco too. Should have gone with that setup at first instead of taking their recommendation of using gravel.

You actually don't need a substrate. Some animals require it. But as long as you leave all the other hides and plants in the tank then you won't need any rocks at all.

Yep, you can see it from lower right corner of the photos. It's a large floating dock.

I'm glad you decided to remove the gravel before something bad happened. I'm sure some people are lucky and their turtle never eats larger gravel than he can handle by chance, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Good call.
Plus I think your guys will like having river rocks to rearrange, most turtles enjoy foraging around them and doing some "redecorating."

I do, I use two ikea hanging lamps with UV/Heat bulbs from petco.
