This photo is bad quality but you can see how little water he had and the tons of gravel.
After I got him a filter, water level is still horrible.
After gleaning every bit of information I could from this forum his setup improved greatly, and he was glad to finally be able to really swim around.
He had a filter, heater, and basking dock, but still lots of gravel.
Then I took the plunge and got the biggest tank I could afford. Luckily I found one really cheap on craigslist. Unfortunately it was filthy.
Full of gravel, rocks, and oddly enough a packing peanut and pen cap.
Thankfully I got my boyfriend and best friend to help me clean it. The RAs and random passerbys gave us funny looks as we washed out this huge tank in the courtyard of our dorm hall.
Then I filled it up and added critters!
I went ahead and bought a nice 200 watt Stealth heater and for now I'm using the filter from his 10 gallon. It's rated for about 25 gallons and there are only 30 gallons in the tank so for now it's ok. I'll just have to do water changes more frequently until I can afford the new filter.
It took him a little while but he finally started exploring his new home. The fish are loving it too.
He likes to swim to the middle and just float there before returning to shredding up his anachris.
Now I promise never to post so many pictures in one thread ever again.
