Sleeping with her foot out, omg how cute.

Image
Her feeding container.

Image
So tiny and v. v. green.

Image
I can't get her in focus to save my life.

Image
Her tail is long but I'm not even going to try and guess her sex yet.

Image
Her set-up.

I've had her since December 2nd and so far she's in perfect health. I worry for her like any mom because she's so tiny and helpless. She's active and playful. She swims and basks and sleeps in the craziest places. I'm glad she's doing okay because I was worried at first. As she grows I'm going to update her tank and the gravel size. I'm going away to college in August so I'm not sure what will happen for her then but I'm sure if I have to I'll be able to find her a good home.

"She's" adorable. :) (You won't know the sex until the shell length withough the curve is about 4 inches long.) How did you decide on the name Veronica?

Do keep whatever rocks you have in the tank larger than her head so there's no temptation to try to eat them. They can cause major health problems if your turtle gets impacted.

Does your turtle have a UVB light as well as the basking light?

From the pictures it looks like the rocks/shells are the basking area(?). If so, can your turtle get out of the water easily to completely dry off? (It looks like there isn't very much traction to climb them...)

Marisa:

I do not have a light strip yet due to lack of funds but I do know that it's something she needs and will be getting one as soon as possible.

I'm probably going to update her gravel some time next month.

She can't get up to her basking area fine. The water reaches up to the top shell and she just swims up to it. Veronica was actually a present for my birthday from some friends. I fell in love with my friend's boxed turtle so they got me Veronica. They didn't provide me with a basking ramp or anything so I just improvised with shells I had and it seems to work fine. She actually likes the different levels the water makes of the shells. The top of the shells is out of water but then she has a level that is just under the surface so she sometimes sits there soaking but under the lamp.

I named her Veronica after Veronica Mars (the television show).

I'm ready for her to actually grow some so I don't feel like she's so helpless. But she is a cute little baby.

I see your location is in Tennessee. Where at? I'm in Riceville, kind of close to Chattanooga.

Welcome to the forum... She's so cute! :) Although Koopa's not that old, it seems so long since he was that little. :)

They're *so* tiny as hatchlings. I'm looking forward to watching Veronica grow.

That's awesome. It's nice knowing I have other turtle owners so close.

Koopa was just one inch when we got him in June and he's 2.5 now. My mom was over today and hasn't seen him in a few weeks, and she commented on how much he's grown. It seems that you blink your eyes and they are bigger. They grow more in the first year or so and then slow down somewhat as long as their diet is healthy and they aren't overfed. :)
