ok, u r new, thats obvious haha, first off u NEED to remove the gravel, the gravel can kill a turtle. and i could be wrong but i think the screen u have over top, the holes might be too small and block UVB also if u can, raise the water level as much as u can, not a terrible start tho, nice looking turtles

Yes I agree. I believe that you're first priority should be getting rid of that gravel. Trust us. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12532 This explains why you need to get rid of it. But don't worry we are not criticizing you just shaping you to be a the best pet owner ever! :)
And yes, the more water the better! I think of it as the apartment analogy. The lesser water there is the more it feels like a cramped small apartment, as the more water there is the more roomier the apartment feels. Just a theory.
You are doing a great job! Keep it up. Others have started off their turtles with horrible conditions, sadly myself included.. But this site is the best thing ever. Great people too.
Good job and enjoy your little turts! They grow up so fast :)

im going to reccomend a rena xp3. i have one on my 65, it works fantastic! esp for the price, and with 2 turtles ur gonna wanna go as big as u can, this is probably a stretch, but in the end u ar eprobably gonna need a large tank or pond, so 125 if they r both males, and ud want a fluval fx5 for that, if they are girls ur gonna want even more space than that, but id still reccomend the fx5. but if u buy a rena xp3 for ur 60, u can but another xp3 or something for a larger tank rather than an fx5

Awwwe! babehs. I have two about the same size! I'm pretty new to this too so I don't have too much advice but the other people here are awesome and wicked knowledgeable.
Where did you get your babies from?
Congrats and good luck!

haha mine are from chinatown too!
To make sure I got rid of all sorts of chinatown disease they might have had, I put a few drops of iodine in the water. It killed all of their fungus and they had no negative effects. I also fed them some anti-parasite food for the first couple weeks.

how do you know if they have fungus? While I did my initial examination, they appeared to look fine. Anything I should look for?

you might want to give them some mild treatment even if they look fine. just because theres no way chinatown cared for them correctly
