i finally got my new water heater. i set it to about 79 degrees F. is it fine that way or should i lower it? anyway, now that the water heater is here, they havent really wanted to bask and get out of the water. and they seem to love their water heater and are more active.

Don't let the water be too warm, they still need to bask and dry off once in a while. Like, half of their day, I believe. Not entirely sure.

scared that they would munch on it?

i trust my turtles enough they wont munch on it. besides, its not big enough to fit in their mouth or to break. its also durable and i did test its hard-ness before putting it in the water. lightly banging it on the tank glass itself and on a steel rod. seems bulletproof to me
