The pet store said male but when i went back to ask they said they weren't sure.. so they said check a zoo vet to get a definite answer.. what y'all think?



so far about 4 or 5 people on here have said female..

my pet store took a random turtle, threw it in a box and said "Female" and passed it to me. i didn't know at the time on sexing turtles and thought it was really female. all summer, no change in behavior or anything and i get "male" from everyone here. i still say yours is female. most pet shop owners dont even know. they just sell their goods.

Female, I don't think most pet stores even understand how to tell if its male or female unless its a specialized type of shop.

Yea petstore people have no idea what they are talking half the time. I watch the one guy try to tell people you tell a male and female res apart by the bottom of the shell if it curves in or out.

Its completely unrealiable with res, should never be mentioned.

If the turtle is around 4" or larger another vote for a girl

Yep I agree, if its its around 4inches you got yourself a lovely girl

Check the claws. if they are all about the same length then it's a girl, If the fore. . . erm.. claws re longer then the rest then it's a male. But judging by the hail I'd say female... votes are in, it's a girl!
