I recently got a bubbler for the tank, pump is only for 10 gallons, but mainly it's used to disturb the water, not airate (not too sure about spelling) the water. either way, sometimes bubble foam the entire water surface, i normally dont use a bubbler so not sure if it's supposed to do this. Also threw in a picture of the set up for comments.

Don't know what to tell you about the bubbles. When I used an air stone in my fish tank I didn't have that problem.

The setup looks nice :-) My only suggestion would be to ditch the gravel. Not only could they eat it, but it will keep the water much cleaner if you only had a few large river rocks in the bottom.

well atm the rocks are bigger than they are, so i just use for cosmetics. Couldn't find any river rocks, but once they start getting bigger, i'll remove the rocks till i can find some.

Seriously, even if they're too big to eat, the gravel makes cleaning more difficult. It holds a lot of crud, which in turn affects water quality. Keep it if you want but I found it was a pain to clean. :-)

I've never had problems with my bubble wand doing that either. I do have one question regarding your setup. Is the light over the basking area both UVA/UVB? I'm just wondering if the temp is warm enough for basking purposes :)

I do have to agree with jen on the rocks. It makes cleaning so much easier when there are a few big rocks instead of a lot of tiny rocks. I have larger rocks in my tank and each time I clean the tank there are less and less remaining  You can use just rocks you find outside you just have to scrub them really really good. Can't get cheaper than free.. :)

River rocks are easy to get in Queens (is there a Stop 'N Shop near you? Check the flower section)

I would also try to get the basking/UVB lamps closer together near the basking platform.

Carol, what's happening to your rocks?

They are too much of a pain to clean up around. Some of them are getting algae, those under the uvb/basking area especially. I'm just getting lazy :)

The bulb over the basking area is a ceramic heat bulb and the one in the corner is purely UVA/UVB. I haven't had a huge problem with the little rocks yet, but there aren't any places where i can get any rocks near me, but yes, there is a stop and shop near me, i guess i'll go see if they have the rocks.
Can't really get the lamp any closer to the basking platform unless i have it hang from the ceiling, which i cant.

If the one on the far side is the UVB light, it really should be closer to the basking area. Since it's a clamp lamp, can't you move it to the front side of the tank and have one on the side and one on the front both pointing at the dock? That's how I have mine. Depending on what kind of UVB light it is, most don't penetrate very far down into the water so it's best for them to get it while they are out basking.

btw, I used to have the same rocks in my tank when my turtles were smaller. :)

There ya go... :) Now they get the benefit of both UVB and UVA (heat) .. will make for happier and healthier turtles.

Thanks for not taking offense to the suggestion.. :)

I originally I had a similair problem with my bubble wall, but The bubble wand came with some knob to adjust the air flow.

All it means is that the air is coming out too fast, so if you can find a way to slow it down, it should stop.

I can't believe how tiny they are!!
I have rocks like that in my tank, too. They're a pain to clean, but I like 'em, so I'll put up with it. My turtle likes to dig in 'em.
