Yeah remove the gravel and is your heater supposed to be touching the gravel? With mine it said that it shouldn't be touching anything.

And your two turtles are in that little tank?? And you except to be able to breed these two and keep their babies for a bit if that? You don't even have the proper set up now for two turtles! Let alone for when the one wants to nest!

You really need to upgrade the tank, my tank is huge compared to yours and mine is for a turtle that's only 1.5 inches! Get a long tank, that'll help out a lot, more swimming room and more play room.

You have some nice looking turtles (and dog and cats).:) How big are the turtles and how big is the tank?

Is that 4.5 inches their combined length or just one turtle's length? Also the 35 gallon tank sure doesn't look like it in the photos. And if they are 4.5. inches you still need more tank space.

and they both are in a 35 gallon tank?!...ok, thats seriously bad....you really need to get a bigger tank. they should have AT LEAST 80 gallons now...and by the time theya re full grown, you'll need around a 220 gallon...

if that's a 35 gallon tank, your cat is a giant. I have a 30 gallon and there is no way that yours is bigger than mine. but it also looks like you have cut off quite a bit of the tank in the picture because i have one of those floating logs and i know that tank has to be longer. could you post a pic of the whole tank?

go here to figure out the size of your tank aka how many gallons it holds

Or, you can figure out the number of gallons it holds by multiplying (in inches) the length X the width X the height of the tank and dividing what you get by 231

Either way, it sounds like your turtles need a bigger tank...
