That one above is a close up of him at the bottom of his tank and the one below is of the whole set up with him swimming upwards. This morning he swam from one end to the other up and down like AM sound waves....it was cool and he looked SO HAPPY!

It works! The myphotoalbum.com site makes it very difficult to link pictures! I was typing out instructions for you when you just posted the update ::roll::

He looks pretty good but the gravel needs to go. You'll also need a wider stand... preferably one that is made for aquariums. Congrats on the rescue!

That is so cool that you rescued a turtle. He looks really good too. I like the smooth shell, awesome!

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! This is a friendly group!
Steve, if I use smooth stones from the beach up the road from me, would that work instead of gravel? They're about the size of marbles; I could bring a bunch home and wash them well. They're from Lake Superior which is extremely clean as lakes go these days.
Is it a stability issue with the desk? I don't have anything else. I would have to save for a stand.

Thanks for the help!

Does Krush look healthy? I'm sure enjoying him. I watch him while the rest of the fam watch TV!!

As long as the stones are larger than your turtle's head, you can use it. Some people clean rocks by boiling them.

With the desk, the tank shouldn't hang over the edges. A stand is made specifically to hold the weight distribution of an aquarium. You can make a stand, or find a much sturdier substitute.

Thanks for the help....last night I took out all the gravel. I read a post about someone's turtle that was ingesting rocks and pooping them out so I'll watch him carefully.

Try finding a metal stand. They're much cheaper!

Thank you.....I will keep that in mind. If a metal stand is cheaper but strong enough, that's going to be my choice.

They're cheaper b/c they don't match your living room furniture or whatnot. But they're metal... so they're perfect aquarium stands. I have a metal stand for my 75 gallon.

My house is a mishmash of decor so I don't care about that. I just want a safe and happy turtle! Thanks!
