I don't know how many of you remember me, or were around when I was posting regularly. I started on here about a year ago when my turtle was having a sore leg issue. I just wanted to post an update on how he has been doing over the last year since I sought out this forums help!

Mr. Turtle has been in his new larger tank with brand new dock for a year now. He couldn't be happier! He has not had any problems with his leg since our vet visit last year. We think he may have just sprained it. He LOVES his new environment. I upgraded to a Fluval filter about 6 months ago and it is awesome! He is so active now. He loves to follow me around in his tank. The other day as I was adjusting something in his feeding tank (which is under his regular tank) I looked up and he was eye to eye with me watching me. LOL

For this summer, I found a pop-up pond for him so he can be outside a lot. Being in an apartment with only a balcony, I had to have something smaller and portable like this one. I'm going to get a screen for the top so that I can leave him out there and not worry about anything messing with him.

For people that don't know or remember, i've had Mr. Turtle for 17 years now. He was a baby when I got him, so he's about that old. Here are some recent pics of his goofy sleeping positions, LOL. One shows his current tank setup pretty well.

Yikes, those photos are huge. Try resizing and posting again.

Cute RES! Is that gravel in the bottom of your tank with the rocks? It isn't the best thing to have in the bottom...not to mention it is hard to clean. Just a thought!

It is large rocks with some large gravel rocks. They are much too big for him to get in his mouth. However, I used regular gravel with him for the first 15 years, and he never had a problem with them. He likes to have rocks to move around and stand on. Plus it helps hide the poo.

Sorry about the large pics. They weren't that large on my computer. Unfortunately I just had to reformat my computer and no longer have a program to resize them.

Oh, i think you are seeing the background image I have on the back of his tank. It has pics of small gravel in it.

I'd love to comment, but the size of the pics prevents me from doing so. I even had trouble finding the Quick Reply box. :O It's good to hear he's happy and healthy, though...

Umm... one thing I noticed is that the basking light isn't over the basking area but on the outside of the tank, shining in through the glass. Is this the UVB bulb or the heat bulb? Ideally both the UVB and Heat light should be over the basking area with nothing obstructing the light (glass/screen) from getting to the basking area.

It is a little hard to get an over all view with the pics being so large, but from what I see your turtle looks good. :)

Yeah I know. But with my current setup and the top I have on my tank I am unable to put the light on the top. The UVB bulb is the flourescent light in the tank hood. The basking light is the light beside the tank.

Don't worry guys. I've read up plenty on here and elsewhere on how to take care of him. I'm doing what i'm supposed to do. There's a reason i've had him for 17 years.

And yes, I wold love help to resize the pics.
